Oct 28th Etsy Front Page Treasury

Oct 28th Etsy Front Page Treasury by Bubbletime.

As lovely as it was,
it was also a reminder that I needed to crop the image for my Bubble Lace Pendant Number 4.

By car, bus or bike

The amount of space needed to transport the same number of people by car, bus or bicycle. Poster credit the city of Muenster Planning Office, Germany- August 2001. (via core77 )

And yes, the photo with the cars is cut off a little but still a good point and impressive visual. This is part of why I commute by bus.

The Barnacles by Plodes

I'm always happy to see stylish and witty storage and these 'Barnacles') by Plodes)
They come in sets of 3 hand crafted gel coated fiberglass storage vessels. I love the possibilities of rearrangement they offer and they're bigger then they look with 8"x10", 7"x9" and 6"x8" sizes.

I'm picturing them in large sets clustered on a wall and full of colourful things like bangles, scarves or sweaters.

Balloon Lamp by Kyouei Co ltd, of Japan

Please excuse me if I fill this blog with an endless stream of cloud like chandeliers, art, hangers, hangers, jewelry (and even a few actual clouds). I love clouds. Particularly ones that also function as lighting. Wonderful!

The white balloon lamp by Kyouei Co ltd, of Japan, satisfies all my urges for billowy white chandeliers. Made of white polypropylene balloons, a clear LED bulb (100 hours lifetime) and 2 lithium-coin batteries they're simple yet clever.

Also available in red!

Chain Mail Bracelet

Chain Mail Bracelet with set white, dark grey and light grey moonstones. Graduating sizes, shades, thickness form a labour intensive bracelet. It the soldering and polishing of every little link that takes the most time.

I started the Chain Mail series years ago, it's super laborious with each piece (such as the one pictured) taking 10-40 + hours. But this year I'm working on some simpler pieces in the same vein.

A couple years ago I had a necklace from this series published in Chain Mail Jewelry: Contemporary Designs from Classic Techniques by by Terry Taylor and Dylon Whyte.

Red Sonja 2009 Posters

Red Sonja posters were released and, I must say, they're rather amazing. Intense with great color. LOVE the long hair. Reminds me of the heavy metal bands I grew up with as a kid.
I vaguely also remember this movie from when I was a kid. I'm super curious to see who will play Arnold Schwarzenegger's part.

I would love to have jewelry in this movie. Think of the screen shots! (Call me Red Sonja costume designer :)

Stuart Haygarth's Tide Chandelier

Tide Chandelier ( 2004) by Stuart Haygarth These are photos I saved and squirrelled away a couple years ago and are still high on my list of favourites. I love the accumulation, pattern, colour flow, harmony and just general loveliness.

The Tide Chandelier's part of a series based on the collection of 'man made' debris washed up on the Kent coastline. The Artist collected this debris over the course of many years to create the series of limited edition chandeliers. They're made of clear & translucent objects, primarily of plastic. Each one different in shape and form yet forming a harmonious orb.

Stuart Haygarth's optical chandelier is made of a mass lenses from old and unwanted eyeglasses. Overall, the chandelier measures 1.5 meters and is comprised of 3,000 lenses. Via dezeen

Lamps like plants in your garden

As summer leaves (I've already started wearing scarves, coats, hats, long socks) I'm wistfully loving the remaining bits of summer. In this vein is the brand new Corona Solar Light by Emi Fujita and Shane Kohatsu. Described as "an outdoor lighting solution that combines a photovoltaic cell, LEDs, and sunflower-esque form to bring a lovely solar-powered glow to your outdoor spaces."

And for a completely different look, they can be mounted on the wall for a orb shape. Good design that's modern and both sleek and organically whimsical dependant upon use. (Via peppermags via Inhabitat)

What's not to love

about a swing at a bus stop? A series in London by Bruno Taylor called "Playful Spaces".

I discovered the charming, well edited blog D*lsh Design today when they featured my jewellery with two rings, I Miss You and The Love Inside #5. Thanks Lucy!
