Poppytalk Handmade favourites on 'Here Comes the Sun'

Poppytalk Handmade's 'Here Comes the Sun' market is soon to end- on July 4th- so here is a little peek at some of my favourites before they're gone!

'In this place' by Artstream (Heather Smith Jones)

'Stepping Bricks' by Artstream (Heather Smith Jones). Sweet and lryical with great lines and colour. Cheery and personable.

Small Small Felt Series Earrings(by me). Soft, fluffy color.

'Floating Lessons' by Ice Bear

'Dandelion Wall' by Lewa's Designs
I love dandelions. So much so that I was even one for Halloween one year. These come in brown, green and white and I love the idea of a wall covered in them. A field of flying fluff.

'Sunshine's Friend' by Pretty Little Theives

Red bubble fondue pot by 'Ladies and Gentlemen'
***I'm always wooed by these sweet little 70's pots. So perfect.

'A Perfect Yellow Pot' by Nice. Also just great. I have one similar in orange.

'Mini I Love You Banner' by Nice. Sweet declarations of love- How can you go wrong!

And it reminds me a bit of 'Learning to Love You More' project "make an encouraging banner", one of their many super endearing projects.

Here Comes The Sun- on Poppytalk Handmade

New on Poppytalk Handmade for the June/July market 'Here Comes The Sun'!

Runs June 6th- July 4th!

Visit for jewelery (of course), super delightful vintage, printed wares and more!

***I was reading an interview with Faythe Levine (Handmade Nation) on Poppytalk and I'm mentioned a little for this market! A very little, but it's always lovely when reading an article about someone you find clever and interesting to happen upon a mention of oneself.

An Etsy find. Leanimal's 'Gezane Dress'

A recent Etsy find. Leanimals's work is divine but this is absolutely flawless. I think that this would be a dress that I would put in my closest and then, even when not wearing it, would periodically visit just to appreciate it's loveliness. A very Bird-like, detailed, elegant piece.

More from Etsy description of the Dress-
This dress is a work of art. Truly. It was actual displayed in the Contemporary Museum of Craft here in Portland for a week.

The underneath silver part is made of a metallic linen-rayon blend jacquard and the top part is made of a slightly sheer white complicated network of pieces that have been folded and draped into something amazing.

This is without a doubt one of the most incredible things I've ever made. And it is for certain a one-of a kind because it was incredibly complicated and time-consuming.
pics by Quavondo,

Additional loveliness includes a coat I'd be delighted to wear daily.

Material Girl, June 21-July 26 in Waterloo, Canada

Material Girl
Opening June 21st 2-4!
June 21-July 26
Engaging & charming exhibition at the Harbinger Gallery in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Material Girl. A group exhibition of contemporary painting, jewellery, drawing, sculpture, and fibre.

Each artist, including Barbara Cohen, Bridget Catchpole, Carmella Karijo Rother, Colleen Baran, Dagmara Genda, Fatima Garzan-Fiouzi, Lynn Jackson, Melanie Siegel, Sasha Pierce, Soheila Esfahani, Suzanne Carlsen and Tiana Roebuck present poetic works that challenge the viewer to consider alternative processes and / or materials for art making.

I'm quite thrilled to be included with work from my 'Like Wearing a Love Letter' series. Particularly as, the other artists in this exhibition include many of my favorite Canadians. I'll be back to post some images of pieces of theirs soon.

I'm in the show with 5 pieces, including The Love Inside #5 and I Miss You.

Floating Islands Ring, made 2004-ish

Floating Islands Ring, made 2004-ish
sterling silver, astro turf, resin

Going through my files, searching for elusive pictures of myself, I came across this ring. Little wind swept islands of grass.

I'm thinking I might make more. If only just to wear myself.

flowers on a busy day

I'm swamped but took a smidge of time to pick some flowers from my yard for my workbench today.

A sea of yellow flowers wins me over every time.

And love these odd purple flowers that cropped up as a wonderful surprise in the backyard. They were being swarmed by attentive bees while I was out. Charming little bees with different shapes and colours. Many had huge pink globules on their hind legs and these all seemed a little clumsy. Something to do with mating I assume?
